Seeking Performers on Flute, Violin, and Trombone

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and OVERVIEW

Density512 Collective Members are first-call artists invited to perform in Density512 shows in their instrument. Substitute musicians will be called when there is need. 

Density512 Collective Members are radically creative musicians who perform a wide variety of music at the highest professional standard. In addition to classical expertise, Collective Members contribute to the artistic and communal success of Density512 through their individual talents (for example, composition, arranging, improvisation, crossover, experimental, acting, art, design, production, and more).

ARTISTIC DUTIES

  • Instrumental Performance: Density512 Collective members perform as members of the chamber orchestra, in chamber ensembles, or solo. Performance modalities may include:

    • Classical/Chamber: Performers follow standard orchestral/chamber protocols, with chamber-music-like collaboration with conductor and other performers.

    • Improvisational/Non-Classical: Performers approach the music as an individual artist in a non-classical or improvisational band.  

    • Experimental/Performance Art/Theatrical: Performers engage in significant extra-musical activities including but not limited to acting, multimedia, interpretation and/or creation of the work itself.

  • Preparation and Etiquette: Performers come fully prepared with any music/materials, ready to adapt to the changing needs of experimental and boundary-defying music. 

  • Creative Flexibility: Performers make ongoing artistic contributions to the ecosystem of Density512. This may take the form of additional creative roles, as per production needs. 

  • Work with Density512: Collective Members may be considered for additional paid opportunities including but not limited to Marketing/Design, Production, Composition, Arts Admin, and more.

  • Communication & Mutual Respect: Performers agree to uphold the Community Standards laid out in the handbook and treat all collaborators and audience members with respect. 

PAYMENT $100 per 2.5 hour rehearsal or concert

$120 per 3 hour rehearsal (standard rehearsal call) Compensation for additional artistic, technical, or administrative labor will be considered on a case-by-base basis

  • Name, Instrument, additional Artistic Skills, and contact information (email & phone #)

  • Resume/CV

  • 1-3 video or audio samples featuring your performance of classical and/or contemporary music on your primary instrument. DIY recordings are acceptable.

  • Optional: video, audio, pdf, or web sample featuring your creativity. Examples may include: performing in an additional style, composition, art or theater of another discipline, etc. 

Qualified applicants may be invited to a live audition on August 12 or 14, or paid trial concert cycle. Applicants who advance in the audition process and are not offered a permanent position will be considered for the D512 substitute musician list.
