Marketing and Communications Director
Density512 is a chamber orchestra and collective of brave and open musicians who champion contemporary programming. We tell stories through imaginatively curated experiences, amplify the voices of groundbreaking and emerging artists, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations. Our live productions include narrative concerts, opera, ballet, live-to-film, sound installations, and more. Since 2017, Density512 has given more than 40 world premieres, served over 10,000 live attendees, and reached over 100,000 people through radio, television, and media.

HOURS & COMPENSATION
Job Type: PART TIME, 10 hours a week. Hours will flex depending on the time of year and concert schedule.
Compensation: This role is compensated at $12,000 annually. As the organization grows, this position has the potential to expand in both time commitment and salary.
POSITION SUMMARY
Density512 seeks a strategic and collaborative Marketing and Communications Director to design our public engagement campaigns, oversee audience growth, and direct our communication efforts. The Director will design the overarching strategy, manage the marketing team's workflow, and ensure our storytelling honors our deep organizational commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recognizing that audience development and fundraising are deeply intertwined, this role works in close, cross-functional alignment with the Development Director to ensure donor appeals, institutional branding, and corporate partnerships reflect a unified public voice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Campaign Design
Develop annual and project-based marketing and communications plans to support earned revenue goals, presenting them to the leadership team.
Establish brand benchmarks and target audience metrics for narrative concerts, and specialized interdisciplinary productions.
Prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion to ensure an organizational culture and public presence that respects different perspectives.
Cross-Functional Development Collaboration
Partner with the Development Director to co-author and design major fundraising campaigns (such as individual giving and end-of-year appeals), aligning donor messaging with overall public brand strategies.
Collaborate on a specialized donor communications calendar, supporting the execution of impact reports, donor spotlights, and exclusive institutional newsletters.
Coordinate the delivery and public execution of corporate sponsor marketing perks (such as logo placements, program ads, and digital acknowledgments) as defined by the development team.
Team Management & Output Oversight
Supervise the Marketing and Communications Associate, providing clear direction on content priorities, copy guidelines, and campaign timelines.
Review, edit, and approve all public-facing copy and creative assets generated by the Associate to ensure exceptional brand alignment.
Balance and manage the workflow of project assets to ensure deadlines are met within the team's part-time allocations.
Public Engagement & Individual Contributions
Act as an external ambassador for Density512, coordinating media pitches and fostering public relations to build trust with audiences, stakeholders, and the media.
Oversee paid advertising strategies (e.g., Meta Ads manager, local listings) and analyze campaign performance metrics.
Review and finalize all printed material promoting Density512 before production.
QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for contemporary/indie classical music, interdisciplinary performing arts, and community-driven storytelling.
Experience in nonprofit arts marketing, audience development, or public relations, with a proven track record of a collaborative and organized work style.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
Excellent attention to detail.
Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events as needed.
